What to check

- Original dimensions or your own setting
- Format
- JPG / PNG / WebP
Actual size and quality depend on your image. Settings do not certify acceptance by another service.
How to use this guidance
- 01
Choose your original
Select an image and keep a copy. Animated GIF input produces a still image.
- 02
Set a maximum and dimensions
Enter the destination’s requirements. Custom dimensions remain fixed even when a very small cap cannot be reached.
- 03
Inspect the output
Check actual bytes, pixels and readability. A preset does not guarantee third-party acceptance.
MB and KB are units of file size, not different image formats. A large camera photo may become a smaller JPG through resizing and compression; changing the unit label or filename alone does not reduce its data. This page starts at a 100 KB maximum, which you should replace with the destination's actual allowance.
First decide how many pixels the destination needs. If a high-resolution photograph is only being used as a small profile picture, exporting every original pixel may waste the size budget. Set suitable dimensions while preserving the subject's proportions, then select an accepted output format and compare the result. Required dimensions must take priority over an optional size preference.
A photo falling from several megabytes to a small KB budget may lose detail or need fewer pixels. The reduction is not predictable from the source file size alone. A noisy night photograph can behave differently from a simple studio image, and a screenshot with tiny writing may become unreadable before reaching the same target.
Return to the original when revising settings. Check the saved copy's size, dimensions and legibility, and keep the larger source for printing or detailed inspection later. If the receiving service needs an original or prohibits alteration, follow that process instead of submitting a compressed replacement.
Common questions
Does a target guarantee an exact file size?
No. The target is a requested maximum. Inspect the actual bytes, dimensions and visual quality; a very small target can remain unmet.
Will compression keep every detail?
JPEG and WebP can lose detail. PNG uses lossless encoding, but resizing changes pixels. Keep your original and compare the preview.
Does this tool set print DPI metadata?
DPI converts centimeters or inches to pixels. This browser export does not write your chosen print-DPI tag. Check pixel dimensions and use print software for physical print settings.
